If you think you might be pregnant please get in touch with us as soon as possible so that we can start planning your maternity care together.
The care you receive from healthcare professionals during your pregnancy is called antenatal care.
You'll be offered a series of appointments with a midwife, or sometimes with a doctor who specialises in pregnancy and birth (an obstetrician).
The majority of your care will be provided by midwives in the community and you may come into the hospital if necessary. They will check that you and your baby are well, give you useful information to help you have a healthy pregnancy (including healthy eating and exercise advice) and answer any questions you may have.
Our range of antenatal services, clinics and classes include:
Our experienced obstetric consultants and specialised midwives provide excellent care for women with complicated pregnancies. We have a fetal medicine service for high-risk pregnancies, specialist clinics for women with pre-existing medical conditions, such as diabetes, a bespoke twin clinic and a service for women who have been subject to female genital mutilation.
Specialist antenatal clinics
Every day we deliver around ten babies for mothers from diverse ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds. Our midwives and consultants speak many languages including Turkish, Somali, Greek and German. We also have interpreting services available for most other languages. We attract mums from Islington and Haringey as well as other London boroughs who travel to Archway to have their baby with us.
